Head GCAT Coach: Bill Forrester

Bill Forrester, who is the founder of Georgia Coastal Aquatic Team in Savannah, Georgia, is a two-time U.S. Olympic swimmer with a bronze medal to his credit. He was also World Champion in the 200 Freestyle; World Champion in the 200 Butterfly; bronze medalist in the 400 Freestyle; and bronze medalist in the 100 Butterfly.

Bill is a superb swimming coach who knows what it takes to be the best.

Junior Swim League/Novice Coach:

Shelley Petesch

Shelley Petesch came to GCAT with over 10 years experience as an Assistant and Head Coach with teams up to 100 kids.  She is a compassionate but competitive coach that uses a mom approach with proven success and an emphasis on technique driven coaching principles. Shelley moved to Savannah from Northern Illinois in June 2006 with her husband Dave. Shelley has 2 grown children and has been coaching for GCAT since 2007.

Age Group Assistant Coach:

Carly Winters

Carly Winters was born and raised in Savannah, where she graduated from St. Andrew's School. She is currently majoring in Pre-Medicine at Armstrong Atlantic State University, but will be going back to the University of Georgia in a year. Carly swam for GCAT for almost 10 years under Coach Bill Forrester, and within that time she was able to compete at both State and Sectional levels. Carly has been an Assistant Coach to the Age Group swimmers since 2007.

Age Group Coach: Walter Weed

Walt Weed has coached many area swimmers to national rankings. Walt is well-known in Savannah's swimming community and is also head coach of Savannah Masters adult swim team. Walt retired from the U.S. Navy after 30 years of service.
